Choosing the Right Cubicles for Your Office Space

Cubicles have been a fixture of workspaces for many decades. They’ve had their ups and downs, and enjoyed increases and decreases in popularity, but these modular workspaces are outstanding for office design and functionality, offering a great balance between performance, privacy, and collaboration.

However, how do you determine the best cubicles for your workplace setup? Discover some important information, tips, tricks, and device for choosing the right cubicles for your space, and where to get the best to suit your needs.

Cubicles for Work Space

Cubicles and the Open Work Environment

Many offices are wondering if they should eschew the use of cubicles altogether as they move towards a more open-work and active-design environment. The truth is, cubicle spaces can still be an outstanding option for this approach to design.

The great thing about cubicles is that they are completely modular; they can be used to build completely private office spaces, or they can be used to create standing desks in modular but open floor plan designs. It’s up to you!

Choosing the Right Cubicles

When choosing the right cubicles, you need to be aware that aside from the many variants offered by different manufacturers, there are two primary options. The first is the monolithic cubicle, which offers completely solid walls from bottom to top. The second are tile-frame or segmented cubicles, where you build walls out of tiles.

Monolithic cubicles are those that most people are familiar with. They’re solid, fabric walls that may or may not have a glass roof placed on top. They tend to be a solid color and very uniform in appearance.

Tile cubicles, however, allow you to mix different colors and patterns, fabrics, and glass plates to create a more customized workplace. In general, however, frame and tile cubicles are thicker and heavier, and take up more space.

Cubicle Options
There is a range of options within each kind of cubicle. You’ll need to determine what features you want. These can include additional storage space that mounts to the walls. There are electrical hookups you can install. There are different finishes, sizes, wall heights, and features. Indeed, buying a cubicle is not unlike buying a car.

In terms of size, a cubicle can range from a tiny 3’x3’ space to vast, 12’x12’ areas. They can be completely customized. Do you want a 4’x2’ basic workstation or a large 10’x10’ meeting area? All of these are built from the exact same components, which makes cubicle use a great overall option.

Serving a Purpose
Like any piece of office furniture, cubicles must be created to serve a purpose. Before deciding what to buy, ask yourself what is the space to be used for. What does each person do, and what’s your design plan for the space?

After you answer that question, you’ll need information, help, and guidance in choosing the right type, style, brand, and manufacturer, and Office Pros can do just that.
